| Neology Information Design - InstaPoll | August 2001 |
Product Development
I developed a polling application which can be used in all ColdFusion websites hosted by Neology Information Design. It was made entirely from custom tags, and its appearance can be customized in order to allow the poll application to conform to a website's color scheme. | | Each client using the poll application has an administrative interface through which they can configure polls, poll questions, and poll question options. | | Statistics for each poll question can be viewed through the administrative interface. The interface, like the poll form and poll results display, are customized to conform to the client's website. | | Each poll can be set to either display an archive of questions and results, override results with a custom message, or hide results until a minimum number of votes are gathered. Each question has settings for these options based on the default poll settings which can also be customized. Questions can be set to run in the future or concurrently in the present with relative priorities. |

| Compaq Working Group | March 2001 |
Content Redesign
The Compaq Working Group wanted more than the designers at Neology could give them, so I was assigned to the task of designing their home page content to be "more flashy". I designed graphical content boxes with gradient headers, soft borders, icons, and tip text, and the client was very pleased. | | I was also chosen to use the content design motif on the user home page. I modified the color scheme and icons according to more specifications that were received from the client. |

| Neology Information Design - NeoForms | February 2001 |
ColdFusion Custom Tag Development
The NeoForm Custom Tags were designed to allow developers to create online forms more quickly and consistently. They allowed forms to fit into websites more cleanly, and allowed less experienced employees to update the forms with ease. Multi-page forms with many fields and methods of processing were combined into a single page templates. | | The NeoForm Custom tags speeded the process of programming functionality for validation, user confirmation, user editing, log file writing, email notification, and database integration. NeoForms have been custom tags have been used to create membership applications, dues payment forms, online stores, course registrations, conference registrations, exhibitor applications, calls for presentations, and sponsorship applications. |

| North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers | October 2000 |
Website Redesign
The NAFEM website had been in need of a redesign long before this project began. The redesign effort was difficult because the site had so many pages. I made the task of navigating through the site easier for the user by creating a three-level DHTML navigation so that the user can get to many pages in the site with just one click. I also made the task of converting the whole site to the new design easier by using a script to make replacements to code in pages throughout the site. | | The design also included a DHTML popup search box. This way a user could search the site from any page, but the search form does not waste screen space when it is not being used. |

| ITUG/DECUS Joint European Conference 2001 | August 2000 |
Website Design
I created the Joint Conference 2001 website using a graphic from the association mailing that was to announce the conference. The design that I came up with included my first DHTML navigation. | | The design that I developed was so sensible and well-liked that its layout and code were used agin for the ITUG/DECUS 2002 Joint European Conference website, the ITUG Summit 2001 website, and the ITUG Summit 2002 website. Needless to say, Neology Information Design profited greatly from the reuse of the design. |

| Suburban Newspapers of America | May 2000 |
Website Redesign
The Suburban Newspapers of America website was my first redesign project with Neology Information Design, and it allowed me to gain a good familiarity with site structure techniques, application interaction, and ColdFusion code. | | In addition to my design work and my collaboration with the development team, I was able to do some development work myself. I design many new online forms for the site like the one seen here. |

| Bridgeport Grain Inc. | April 1999 |
Website Design
The Bridgeport Grain Inc. was the first website that I designed from scratch, and although its design is somewhat dated, the site still serves its purpose. | | One of the most important features of the BGI website is the grain bids page - my first web application. This page is updated hourly from a Visual Basic application which monitors futures prices from the Chicago Board of Trade. The Elevator Manager can change the basis manually through a web interface written in Perl. The bids then update themselves hourly as the sum of the basis and the actual futures prices. |
